No. 23-03 <br />Council Chair and Members <br />Hawaii County Council <br />Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br />Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 23-U3. reports as follows: <br />Resolution No. 23-03. transmitted jointly with Bill No. 27 b~ Director of Finance <br />William Takaba. via Communication No. 60. dated December 19, 200?. authorises the Office of <br />the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of l Iawai'i Department of Transportation, <br />Public Affairs Oflice -Safe Community Program for aDrinking/Driving Community I?ducation <br />Campaign grant. <br />The State of Hawaii Department of'I~ransportation, Public Affairs Ofticc Safe Community <br />Program has authorized a $3.000 grant to the Police Department to purchase office supplies. <br />miscellaneous supplies such as banners, bumper stickers, office space rental and travel expenses. <br />fhe goal of this program is to reduce DUI related crashes, injuries, arrests, and citations in the <br />District of Ka'u. <br />Pursuant to Section 46-7, E Iawai'i Revised Statutes, county deparUnenls must obtain the consent <br />of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to <br />be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds <br />or other assistance in connection with projects heing or to be undertaken pursuant to those <br />powers. <br />Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Kesolution No. ?3-03 <br />and recommends its adoption. <br />smc <br /> nYHS Fors .ext. t.~ <br />CHUNG X <br />SAFARIK X <br />ARA KAKI X <br />F.I.ARIONOFF X <br />WOLSCHUH X <br />JACOBSON X <br />LEITH EAD-TODD X <br />REYNOLDS X <br />TYLER X <br />Respectfully submitted <br />COMMIT"T[SF.ON 1'INANCE <br />-- - ------- <br />AARON S.Y.
