Chum, dated lpril 22. 2003. tran,mitting Rill <br />No. IOd for the Council's review and comideration. <br />l he purpose o(Rill No. I Oa is to amend Section I>-6R.1, I lawaii County Code, Parks and Recrauional <br />Fncilih Schedule, by naming the Kawananakoa hall- "Princess nbigail Wahi'ika'ahu'ula Kawananakoa <br />Ccnlcr°. <br />Abigail Wahi'ika'ahu'ula was horn on January I, IRR2, the daughter ufJanms Campbell and nbigail <br />Kauihelani Maipinepine Rrighl. She received the courtesy title of princess through her marriage to Prince <br />David La'amea Kahalepouli Kawananakoa Pi'ikoi. Princess Abigail hecame an eflcctive leader of the native <br />Hawaiian community and took an increasingly active part in territorial politics. <br />Memhers of the Keaukaha cunununih have requested proper recognition of Princess Ahigail <br />Wahi'ika'ahu'ula Kawananakoa and accompanying signage for the new faciliq.
