No. 244/Bill Na. 1U7 <br />Council Chair and Member <br />}lawai'i County Council <br />Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br />Your Committee on Finance, to which was relerred Rill No. 1 U7, reports as lollows: <br />Bill No. 107. transmitted b~ Director of Finance William 'hakaba, via Communication No. 24d. <br />dated May 5.2003, amends Chapter ?_ Article 24 of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995 <br />I?dition), relating to the sere ice charge assessed for payment to the County Ural is subscquentl} <br />dishonored. <br />Bill No. 107 proposes to remove all references of checks and negotiable instruments fi'om the <br />Article 24 titled and within Section ?-134 so that all dishonored payments (including credit <br />cards) will be assessed a service charge. This proposal also increases the service charge assessed <br />from $7.50 to $20.00 for each check or other negotiable instrument returned by the bank liar <br />insufticient funds.
