RECEIVED -
June 16, 1998

To whom it may concern: County Council

Excess speed on Waianuenue Ave. between Akolea Rd. and the
Hospital has become a problem. The speed limit is 35mph, which is a
safe and prudent speed for that area. Most drivers do keep to the
35mph limit, but a few drivers go much faster. Lowering the speed
limit to 25mph would result in many angry and frustrated drivers,
create safety problems with unlawful or unsafe passing, and make

law-breakers of the average law abiding citizen who would go faster
than that very slow limit.

There are a few people who would probably delight in obeying
the 25mph limit, but most drivers would not because 25mph is
unreasonably slow. I myself would find it difficult to maintain that

speed.

Therefore, I propose that we keep and ENFORCE the 35mph
speed limit. The speed limit is not the problem----it's the speeders.
Police should enforce the law by ticketing those who go over the
existing speed limit.

Sincerely,

Judy Ball
Wailuku Dr.

Comm Pie.
