<br /> <br /> <br /> J~ZV us M~!Y <br /> <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> <br /> ~rFosM'~ <br /> r69 ~.I <br /> RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION URGING THE DIRECTOR OF MASS TRANSIT TO IMPLEMENT <br /> REGULARLY SCHEDULED BUS SERVICE TO AND FROM HILO AIRPORT. <br /> <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, currently there is no bus service to or fi-om the Hilo Airport; and <br /> <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, we must endeavor to provide transportation to all citizens that need it; and <br /> <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, with ever increasing fuel costs, it is increasingly difficult for drivers to fuel, <br /> insure and license personal vehicles; and <br /> <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, taxi's provide a valuable public service at the airport however not every <br /> one can afford to use a taxi, and <br /> <br /> <br /> I WHEREAS, there are days when cruise boats make it more profitable for taxis to service <br /> the pier and taxis are not readily available at the Hilo Airport: and <br /> <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is important to have a seamless, intermodal transportation for residents, <br /> <br /> I visitiors and workers for a healthy economy and society; and <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY <br /> OF HAWAII that bus service to and from the Hilo Airport is an important public service. <br />
