REQUEST: <br /> <br /> To create an account entitled "Hawaii Tourism Authority" for $500,000.00 under the following object codes <br /> 115 $50,000.00 <br /> 480 $450,000.00 <br /> <br /> To enter into an MOU with Hawaii Tourism Authority to accept $500,000.00 for capital improvement costs <br /> related to acquiring and owning the necessary cameras and surveillance equipment for the Safety and <br /> Security Strategic Initiative. <br /> <br /> <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> <br /> The Hawaii Tourism Authority created a statewide Tourism Strategic Plan in 2005 that identified various <br /> Tourism Strategic Initiatives, including a Safety and Security Strategic Initiative. The Hawaii Police <br /> Department will implement a Security Camera Program to establish a security camera surveillance system in <br /> public areas and especially those areas frequented by visitors and determined as the best opportunities for <br /> success by government agencies, community groups, and business affected by a security camera <br /> surveillance system.
