ARAKAKI, COUNCIL CHAIRMAN <br /> AND COUNCILMEMBERS <br /> HAWAII COUNTY COUNCIL <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII <br /> HILO HAWAII 96720 <br /> <br /> <br /> SUBJECT: DRAFT BILL TO AMEND CHAPTER 22, RELATING TO STREETS AND <br /> SIDEWALKS, OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE <br /> <br /> Forwarded for your consideration is a draft bill that amends Chapter 22, Streets and Sidewalks, section <br /> 22-20 by replacing "city limits of Hilo" with "County." Although we would like to revise Chapter 22 <br /> in its entirety, we believe the inequity of the section is significant enough to warrant immediate attention. <br /> A recent complaint regarding the lack of permits for news racks being placed on County sidewalks in <br /> Keauhou, Kona has underscored the importance of changing the Chapter's present language. This bill <br /> does not attempt to alter current procedures or practices. We hope to address this in our comprehensive <br /> revision of Chapter 22.
