<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> 13. LAND STUDY BUREAU SOIL RATING <br /> <br /> The rating is E270. The agricultural suitability of this land type "E" is very poorly suited. <br /> <br /> 14. FIRM DESIGNATION <br /> <br /> The Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) designation is "X". <br /> <br /> 15. EXISTING DRAINAGE WAYS OR IMPROVEMENTS <br /> <br /> - There are no visible existing drainage ways or improvements other than roadside <br /> drainage swales. Because of its rocky nature no runoff or erosion are visible or have <br /> been experienced in this area. <br /> <br /> Much of the environmental setting within this area has not changed since the <br /> construction of Kaloko Drive and other secondary roads approximately 25 years ago. The forest <br /> he taken over the cleared areas needed to build the roads exc. pt for the travel ways and <br /> shoulders. Very few lots have been grubbed and cleared for pastoral or other uses. <br /> <br /> 16. AIR/NOISE/WATER QUALITY <br /> <br /> The subject parcel has not been disturbed as well as the surrounding parcels and has been <br /> in its natural state except for the existing infrastructure. Except for the minimal traffic, there is <br /> no evidence of any visible environmental degradation. <br /> <br /> HISTORICAL RESOURCES <br /> <br /> 17. EXISTING ARCHAEOLOGICAL, CULTURAL OR HISTORIC SITES <br /> <br /> In 1970 and 1971, the developers of Kaloko Mauka funded an archaeological study of <br /> the Kaloko ahupuaa. Additionally, the National Park Service published in 1991 a report entitle <br /> "An Ahupuaa Study: The 1971 Archaeological work at Kaloko Ahupuaa, North Kona". <br /> <br /> Of significant findings were remains of an agricultural field system up to the 3500-foot <br /> elevation at certain locations. <br /> <br /> The Historic Preservation Division of the State Department of Land and Natural <br /> Resources indicated that an archaeology study and field investigation was commissioned by lot <br /> owners. No report has yet been received by the Department. <br />
