Andrade Slaughterhouse strongly supports the resolution expanding the Enterprise Zone. We have been in business 92 years, we are a 3rd generation business. We have strong grass roots here. We believe in treating everyone with fairness. In June of this year I attended a meeting from the Honokaa Businessmen Ass. at this meeting a gentleman was discussing about how we as small business could get this tax credit. I listening carefully and very excited, as small business was finally was going to get a tax break. We meet all criteria and more. Then he explained that you had to be with this certain Zone. I couldn't believe where the area ended, About 2 blocks from our Slaughterhouse and Meat Market. I then began thinking, but wait a minute, Above us there was island Dairy, Mottas Pottery, a Sawmill, Deluz Quarry all within 5 miles. We must at least employee about 30- 50 employees, and some were displaced sugar workers. They had Totally forgot the Ahualoa Area. I could not believe it!!! The very next day I contacted Councilman Yagong and asked how did this happen???? He immediately started to intestate what had happen. Councilman Yagong then told me that he would be introducing this resolution. We at Andrades Strongly Support this Resolution. I believe we deserve this tax credit, we have always believed in supporting the local economy, we believe in fairness. I have enclosed a pamphlet which tells about us.
