No. 1189/Bill 290 <br /> PLACE: Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa <br /> 78-128 Ehukai Street <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 1:00 P.M. <br /> <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> <br /> Your Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations, to which was referred <br /> Communication No. 1189, regarding Bill 290, reports as follows: <br /> <br /> Bill 290, transmitted by Director of Public Works, Bruce McClure, via Communication <br /> No. 1189, dated April 18, 2008 amends Chapter 24, article 10, division 9, section 24-294, <br /> schedule 42 (bicycle lanes), subsection (f) Kona, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 <br /> Edition, as amended) by adding: Kuakini Highway, both sides, between Palani Road and <br /> Hualalai Road. This proposed bicycle lane was identified in the September 2003 edition of the <br /> Bike Plan Hawaii and will serve as a continuation of the bicycle facility from the Old Kona <br /> Airport to Palani Road. <br /> <br /> There was no testimony from members of the public regarding this proposed bill. <br /> <br /> Traffic Division Chief, Ron Thiel appeared before your committee. Mr. Thiel commented that <br /> this traffic amendment is necessary to add the proposed bicycle lane as it is completed and part <br /> of the Kuakini Highway Improvements. <br /> <br /> Committee Chair Ford and Council Vice-Chair Pilago commended the Department of Public <br /> Works and Mr. Thiel for their great work and completion of this project. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> PWIRC RPT NO. 74 <br />
