COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. ~ "~ 3 ~~ 8 <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE RECEIPT AND EXPENDITURE OF THE <br />HAWAII ISLAND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BOARD (HIEDB) GRANT OF <br />$100,000 FOR A CURBSIDE TRASH AND RECYCLING PICKUP FEASIBILITY <br />STUDY <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii Island Economic Development Board (HIEDB) has received a grant <br />from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to continue developing and implementing a <br />sustainable, community-based waste recycling and reuse system on Hawaii Island; and <br />WHEREAS, with this grant, the HIEDB wishes to provide $100,000 to the County of <br />Hawai`i's Department of Environmental Management; and <br />WHEREAS, these funds will be used to conduct a feasibility study on curbside trash and <br />recycling pickup for the Pana`ewa and Keaukaha communities; and <br />WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county departments <br />obtain the consent of the council to expend and receive any funds or other assistance from the <br />federal or state governments in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to any <br />powers granted by law. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF <br />HAWAII that it authorizes the receipt and expenditure of Hawaii Island Economic Development <br />Board funds awarded to the Department of Environmental Management. <br />
