REPORT OF THE <br /> COIvIIVIITTEE ON PUBLIC WORKS ANll PARKS <br /> DATE: September 2, 1997 RF,: COMM. NO. 357 <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> TIME: 9:07 a.m. <br /> Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication No. 357, <br /> reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 357 transmits a request for a sign permit and a sidewalk use permit <br /> information sheet to the Council from Linda L. Brown of Linda's Cheesecakes at the Keawe <br /> Street Cafe. This request was received by the Council on June 6, 1997. The address provided <br /> for Linda's Cheesecakes was 264 Keawe Street, Hilo, Hawaii. <br /> During the course of researching this application, Committee staff learned that this business had <br /> apparently closed and that Ms. Brown's lease for the premises had been terminated. As a result, <br /> on July 16, 1997, Committee Chair Yagong wrote to the applicant and informed her that because <br /> her request was clearly dependent upon her possession of the premises at 264 Keawe Street, the <br /> Committee had stopped processing this request. Committee Chair Yagong asked Ms. Brown to <br /> inform him in writing by August 18, 1997 if she wished the Committee to resume processing her <br /> application. <br /> In the letter to Ms. Brown, Chair Yagong further informed her that if no response was received <br /> by August 18, 1997, that he would recommend that the Council file Ms. Brown's request and its <br /> accompanying attachments. (See Communication No. 357.01.) This letter was mailed via <br /> certified mail and a return receipt, indicating that it had been received on July 18, 1997, was <br /> returned to the County Clerk's office. <br /> No response to this letter was received.
