REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC WORKS AND PARKS <br /> DATE: July 22, 1997 RE: COMM. NO. 377 <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> TIME: 10:32 a.m. <br /> Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication No. 377 <br /> and attached Resolution No 119, reports as follows: <br /> The purpose of Resolution No. 119 is to authorize the County of Hawaii to acquire private <br /> property along Wainaku Street for permanent easement purposes. This resolution authorizes the <br /> Corporation Counsel to initiate eminent domain proceedings, pursuant to Chapter 101, Hawaii <br /> Revised Statutes, to take, acquire, and condemn certain private properties necessary for <br /> permanent easement purposes and for temporary construction purposes. Acquisition of this <br /> easement will enable the County to construct sidewalks along Wainaku Street and consequently <br /> promote the safety of school children and other pedestrians who walk along this roadway. <br /> Communication No. 377 is a letter from Corporation Counsel Richard D.
