REOUEST: <br /> To increase revenue in: <br /> 3607.00 Contribution From Private Source - $8,000 <br /> <br /> To create an account for appropriation to expend the revenue in: <br /> Parks and Recreation, Culture and Arts, King Kalakaua Statue Maintenance <br /> <br /> <br /> This will allow the department to receive a donation of $8,000 for upkeep and maintenace of <br /> the King Kalakaua Statue located in Kalakaua Park. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> <br /> The King Kalakaua Statue Committee, an ad hoc citizen's group, will be presenting a <br /> check for $8,000 to the County of Hawaii, Department of Parks and Recreation, Culture <br /> and Arts Section. The donation is to be used for the upkeep and maintenance of the <br /> King Kalakaua Statue at the Kalakaua Park in downtown Hilo. <br /> <br /> The life-sized statue was created by artist Henry Bianchini in bronze and was publicly <br /> dedicated on August 6, 1988. The artist has recommended that a patina be reapplied to <br /> the statue every ten years, the first of which is this year.
