NO. 898 <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> TIME: 9:00 a.m. <br /> Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication No. 898, <br /> reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 898 is from Colleen Mandala, dated April 21, 1998, requesting a sidewalk use <br /> permit for the purpose of allowing customers to stand on the concrete pad in front of a proposed <br /> juice bar takeout window, which would be operated in conjunction with their existing gift and <br /> clothing store in Pahoa Village (Tax Map Key No. (3) 1-5-12:48). Ms. Mandala states a portion of <br /> the concrete pad is the County right-of--way. A copy of the drawing of the building that delineates <br /> the area of the proposed juice bar shown was also submitted. Ms. Mandala states that their property <br /> line extends approximately 24 inches in front of the building and the entire depth of the concrete pad <br /> from the front of the building to the edge of the street is 30 inches. <br /> Communication No. 89$.0 ( is from Virginia Goldstein, Planning Director, dated May 12, 1998, <br /> submitting comments on the application. <br /> Communication No. 898.02 and 898.03 are from the Department of Public Works who has no <br /> objection to the take-out window as proposed, provided no temporary or permanent objects will <br /> obstruct the sidewalk area. The Department also found it "highly unlikely the sidewalk area will be <br /> blocked by patrons of the juice bar." <br /> <br />
