REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC WORKS AND PARKS <br /> DATE: .Tune 30, 1998 RE: COMM. NO. 890 / B[LL NO. 264 <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> TIME: 9:00 a.m. <br /> Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication No. 890, and <br /> attached Bill No. 264, reports as follows: <br /> The purpose of Bill No. 264 is to amend Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 2, Section 24-267, <br /> Schedule 15 (One way streets), Subsection (c) South Hilo, item (6); Section 24-280, Schedule 28 <br /> (No parking at anytime) Subsection (c) South Hilo; and Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 5, <br /> Section 24-281, Schedule 29 (Parking prohibited during certain hours on certain streets; tow away <br /> zones) Subsection (c) South }{ilo, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995 Edition). <br /> Communication No. 890 is a letter dated June 15, 1998, from Chief Engineer Donna Fay K. <br /> Kiyosaki informing that Kapiolani Street between Waianuenue Avenue and Ponahawai Street was <br /> established as a one-way street on Sundays (5:00 a.m. to I:00 p.m.) to provide parking for St. <br /> Joseph's Church and Glad Tidings Church members. Although St. Joseph's Church expanded their <br /> parking lot and Hilo Union School made available their parking lot to the church members, <br /> Kapiolani Street between Waianuenue Avenue and Haili Street is still heavily used, however, that <br /> section between Haili Street and Ponahawai Street is minimally used..
