REQUEST: <br /> <br /> To amend Ordinance 08-79, as amended, the Capital Improvement Projects budget, to create a new <br /> appropriation entitled "Removal/Removal and Replacement of Hazardous Facilities" in the amount of <br /> $500,000.00. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> <br /> <br /> The intent of the appropriation is to provide funding for the preparation of documents, delivery of services, and <br /> construction efforts necessary to demolish, remove and, if necessary, replace structures, or portions of structures <br /> rendered hazardous or unsafe for public use or continued public exposure. <br /> Prior appropriation 110.599.5599.60.115 (Ordinance 05-87) entitled "Removal / Removal and Replacement of <br /> Hazardous Facilities" in the amount of $500,000.00 lapsed June 30, 2008 and is no longer available for use. <br /> There is currently $500,000.00 earmarked in the recent Bond Ordinance (08-106) for this project that is awaiting <br /> allotment in order for these efforts to commence. <br /> <br /> This appropriation is critical to ensure that older facilities that have lacked appropriate preventative maintenance or <br /> timely repairs or that have been subject to unchecked exposure to the elements and have become hazardous or unsafe <br /> can be immediately addressed and either repaired or replaced to avoid or minimize the time the facility and the <br /> function(s) it serves are withheld from the public. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> SIGNED: DATE: August 6, 2008 <br /> rDepa ment Head <br /> <br /> County of Howari is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer <br />
