COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. ~~~ 08 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S). <br />WHEREAS, the Island of Hawaii is located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, and in <br />[he event of a disaster help and assistance may only be available from another island or the <br />mainland of the United States, causing severe delays in receiving assistance; and <br />WHEREAS, the Island of Hawaii is subjected to lava flows, hurricanes, tropical storms, <br />floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, rockslides, and other disasters and has frequently had many areas <br />on the island become isolated in a disaster; and <br />WHEREAS, the Community Emergency Response Team (CER"f) Program educates <br />people about disaster preparedness, trains volunteers in basic response skills; such as, fire safety, <br />light search and rescue, and disaster medical operations, and with their training, CERT members <br />can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following a disaster event, and can take a <br />more active role in preparing their community; and <br />WHEREAS, disaster prepazedness is the responsibility of every adult, family, <br />neighborhood, community, and government; and <br />WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to <br />the Hawaii County Fire Department to provide funding for overtime wages to the instructors <br />who do the training in their free time in North Kona; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br />following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: <br />FUND: General <br />AMOUNT OF <br />APPROPRIATION: $2,000 <br />OUT AND FROM: <br />010.10].5101.91 Clerk-CouncilSVC-Contingency Relief $2,000 <br />CREDITED TO: <br />010.221.5221.01 Hawaii County Fire Department <br />Fire Protection S&W $2,000 <br />(CERT training in North Kona -overtime) <br />
