Section Rules and ReQUlations Relating to the After-Hour Pool Use Proeram <br /> A. The purpose of the After-Hour Pool Use Program is to promote the Department's policy <br /> of increasing recreational opportunities to the public by allowing greater public access to, <br /> and use of, County swimming pool facilities outside of established employee work hours <br /> and to accommodate members of the public requiring use of the County's swimming pool <br /> facilities for therapeutic aquatic activities. <br /> B. After-hour use of swimming pool facilities shall initially be a pilot program and shall be <br /> on a first come, first served basis. The Department reserves the right to limit the use of <br /> swimming pool facilities, cancel the pilot project, or reevaluate the program based on <br /> public participation in the program, cost effectiveness, establishment of certain patterns, <br /> or in when it is in the best interest of service to the public. <br /> <br /> C. All participants in the Auer-Hour program shall: <br /> 1. Be at least 18 yeazs of age. <br /> 2. Complete the Application for After-Hour Pooi Use form and register to participate <br /> in the program. <br /> 3. Provide a completed Medical Clearance to Take Swimming Proficiency Test form <br /> signed by a physician licensed to practice medicine in the State of Hawaii. This <br /> requirement shall not apply to a person using the swimming pool facility for <br /> therapeutic aquatic activities who is accompanied by an attendant who is in <br /> compliance with these rules. <br /> 4. Pass a competency test administered by a County certified Lifeguard or Water <br /> Safety Officer. The competency test shall consist of swimming _ yazds non- <br /> stop, either in a pool or in the open ocean, in _ minutes without the aid of any <br /> flotation device or swim fins. This requirement shall not apply to a person using <br /> the swimming pool facility for therapeutic aquatic activities who is accompanied <br /> by an attendant who is in compliance with these rules. <br /> 5. Sign a Release of Claims form before a notary public. <br /> 6. Possess a current Certificate of Proficiency and Director's Approval, and have <br /> such form available for inspection by any Department employee, lifeguazd, <br /> security officer, police officer, or participant in the after-hour pool use program, <br /> whenever using a swimming pool facility after regularly scheduled hours. An <br /> annual fee of $60.00 shall be paid to the Aquatics Office to obtain the Certificate <br /> of Proficiency and Director's Approval. In the event of cancellation or <br /> termination of participation in the Program, the annual fee shall be refunded on a <br /> pro rata basis at the rate of $5.00 per month, or fraction thereof. <br /> <br />
