„VV osM <br />y~il <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII •~ '• STATE OF HAWAII <br />::$~ <br />RESOLUTION NO. 794 08 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFER121NG/APPROP121A'I'[NG AN APPKOI'RIA'1'ION OU"1' <br />AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDI7`INC SAME'1'O A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S). <br />WHEREAS, the Institute for a Sustainable huturc, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organisation, <br />through collaborative efforts with organizations in West Ilawai`i and volunteer citizens of the <br />community, presents the 2009 Kona Earth Festival, to commence April 25`x' through May 10°i; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the purpose and goal of the Kona 13arih Day Festival is to raise awareness <br />of and respect for the environment through activities and events that promote practical and <br />ethical solutions for sustainability, while ensuring culturally appropriate context; and <br />WHEREAS, the Kona Earth Festival includes events such as; Earth Day, Coral Rccf <br />Awareness Day, Malama `Aina Clean Up Day, Recycled Art and Fashion , Wcst I lawai`i <br />Veteran's Cemetery Dryland Reforestation Project, Planet Earth Environment Film Scrics, <br />Community Tree Planting in O`oma State Forest, Kuleana Green Business Conlcrcncc & "trade <br />Show, Kona Soil & Water Conservation District 4x4 mountain tour, Farm Tour of Organic Mini- <br />Farm, Earih Mother's Day, and many other events yel to be determined; and <br />WHEREAS, the Kona Earth Festival activities will educate visitors and residents of <br />West Hawaii and provide opportunities to experience sensitive and ethical stewardship skills <br />that promote protection of Hawai`i's natural and cultural resources; and <br />WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to <br />the Department of Research and Development to be used towards the Kona fiarth Day Festival to <br />defray costs to provide this educational and valuable community service; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY'CHE COUNCIL OF'I'FIE COUNTY OF I1AWA1`I that the <br />following amount is hereby transferred and appropriated as set forth below: <br />FUND: General <br />AMOUNT OF <br />APPROPRIATION: $3,000 <br />OU"f AND FROM: <br />010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC-Contingency Relief $3,000 <br />
