COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 790 0~ A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) WHEREAS, the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council is a non- profit 501(c)(3) corporation and is the fiscal sponsor for the Federation of American Natives which will organize the annual Hilo Inter-Tribal Powwow event; and WHEREAS, the Hilo Inter-Tribal Powwow event provides Native Americans an opportunity to celebrate and shaze their culture in a traditional manner and attracts visitors to Hawaii Island who are culturally sensitive and eager to leazn about Native American and Hawaiian culture; and WHEREAS, through incorporation of Hawaiian traditions with Native American traditions during this event, it demonstrates the parallels and historic connections of the two native cultures; and WHEREAS, the Fourth Annual Hilo Inter-Tribal Powwow, scheduled to be held on May 23-25, 2009 in Hilo Hawaii, is amulti-cultural event that helps boost local economy and provides the residents ofHawai`i County afamily-oriented drug and alcohol-free venue; and WHEREAS, the Hilo Inter-tribal Powwow event is one of several programs sponsored by the Department of Research and Development that create awazeness and education of the rich cultural resources of Hawaii Island, making positive contributions to quality of life for its residents; and WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of Research and Development towards the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development to help fund the Fourth Annual Hilo Inter-Tribal Powwow event on May 23-25, 2009; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: FUND: General AMOUNT OF APPROPRIATION: $1,000
