COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 799 08 <br />A RESOLUTION'CRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIA'1']ON OUT <br />AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDI'I'1NG SAMF,'1'O A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUN'T'(S). <br />WHEREAS, the American Red Cross is a non-profit agency whose mission is to prevent <br />and alleviate human suffering by helping people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies <br />and providing disaster relief to the people of I-lawai`i every day of the year; and <br />WHEREAS, the American Red Cross staff and volunteers work very closely with <br />Hawaii County government and volunteer emergency responders in the community during <br />disasters; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii State Chapter of the American Red Cross is responsible for <br />managing thirty-four (34) shelters in the County oPFlawai`i, tnost of which are in public schools <br />during severe weather events (e.g. hurricanes), flooding, evacuations due to brush tires, <br />hazardous material spill or terroristic threatening; and <br />WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to <br />the Civil Defense Agency to provide support to the American Red Cross llawai`i State Chapter <br />to augment the Disaster Relief Program; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED I3Y THE COUNCIL OF'I'HE COiJNTY OE FIAWAI`1 that the <br />following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set for the below: <br />PUNll: GENERAL: <br />AMOUNT OF <br />APPROPRIATION: $10,000 <br />OUT AND FROM: <br />010.101.5101.91 Clerk-CouncilSVC-ContingencyRelicf $10;000 <br />CREDI"fED TO: <br />010.241.5241.02 Civil Defense Agency $10,000 <br />Civil Defense Agc OCE <br />(American Red Cross) <br />
