He emphasized that this reliable support <br /> would need to be actively maintained through participation and early <br /> endorsements by HSAC in NACo. <br /> <br /> D. Western Interstate Region (WIR) Report <br /> <br /> Vice President Jacobson stated that an upcoming WIR meeting will be <br /> held in California and he would provide members with the details if <br /> another committee member is interested in attending. <br /> <br /> IV. UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> <br /> .A. NACo Prescription Drug Discount Card Program Update <br /> <br /> President Rapozo stated that an analysis of the program is included in the <br /> agenda packet. He commented that the program has been successful in <br /> the City and County of Honolulu and the County of Kauai, saving <br /> consumers money on prescription drugs. Vice President Jacobson <br /> informed the committee that Hawaii County has begun the program and <br /> the drug discount cards are being made as accessible to the general <br /> public as possible. President Rapozo stated that some pharmacies on <br /> Kauai are choosing to place the discount cards in their establishments as <br /> well. <br /> The NACo Prescription Drug Discount Card Program Update was filed. <br /> <br /> B. 2009 HSAC Legislative Package <br /> <br /> President Rapozo stated that he had received the proposals from Hawaii <br /> County and the City and County of Honolulu for the 2009 HSAC legislative <br /> package. Treasurer Pontanilla informed the committee that Maui County <br /> had passed its proposals and would be forwarding them to the president. <br /> <br /> Maui council chair Hokama asked if Honolulu was planning to submit a <br /> proposal that addressed the government television access issue <br /> presented by secretary Garcia at the previous HSAC meeting. Secretary <br /> Garcia stated that the Honolulu council had approved of such a proposal <br /> and offered to present the issue to neighbor island procurement officers <br /> and elected officials. He reported that he met with state House leadership <br /> on the issue and plans to meet with Senate leadership as well. President <br /> Rapozo suggested that if the Honolulu legislative proposal is not passed <br /> by all counties then the HSAC executive committee should consider an <br /> HSAC resolution supporting the provisions of the proposal. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> 4 <br />
