Yamashiro via Communication No. 353 dated June 5, 1997, reports as <br /> follows: <br /> The purpose of Resolution No. 110-97 is to name a certain roadway within the Olaa Reservation <br /> Lots at Olaa, Puna, Hawaii. This resolution names the following roadway in Exhibit "A" of this <br /> resolution as "Hawelu Road" named after a renown kia manu or bird catcher who operated a rest <br /> stop or halfway house on this Hilo-Kilauea crater trail or commonly referred to as"Homesteads <br /> Road." <br /> Pursuant to Section 22-35, Article 2, Chapter 22 of the Hawaii County Code, the Council is <br /> authorized to adopt street nanies for Hawaii County's unnamed roadways. <br /> The Planning Commission recommended favorable consideration for the naming of the roadways <br /> and more than sixty percent of the landowners being served by this roadway have agreed to the <br /> name "Hawelu Road."
