COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. ~~~ ®~ <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) <br />WHEREAS, the Kona Coffee Festival is anon-profit 501(c)(3) corporation and is the <br />f scal sponsor for the Annual Kona Coffee Cultural Festival activities; and <br />WHEREAS, the Kona Coffee Cultural Festival has grown to be recognized as the oldest <br />and most successful food festival in Hawaii and the only coffee festival in the United States <br />which showcases "tradition, culture and Kona coffee" through ten days of festivities honoring <br />pioneers, farmers, artisans and coffee; and <br />WHEREAS, events and activities during the 10-day festival include a Cupping <br />Competition, coffee bean picking contest for prizes, the Miss Kona Coffee Pageant, art exhibits <br />featuring collection of paintings and other mediums depicting the Kona coffee lifestyle, a recipe <br />contest using gourmet Kona coffee, tours of working and historical coffee farms, mills and <br />roasting operations and a Kona Coffee Cultural Festival parade; and <br />WHEREAS, the Kona Coffee Cultural Festival is one of several programs sponsored by <br />the Department of Research and Development that create awareness and education of the rich <br />and diverse cultural resources of Hawaii Island, making positive contributions to quality of life <br />for its residents; and <br />WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8, will be appropriated to <br />the Department of Research and Development to help fund the 2009 Annual Kona Coffee <br />Cultural Festival; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br />following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: <br />FUND: General <br />AMOUNT OF <br />APPROPRIATION: $5,000 <br />OUT AND FROM: <br />010.101.5101.91 Clerk-Council SVC -Contingency Relief $5,000 <br />
