No. 779-08 <br />PLACE: Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Hotel <br />78-128 `Ehukai Street <br />Kailua-Kona, Hawaii <br />TIME: 1:03 p.m. <br />Council Chair and Members <br />Hawaii County Council <br />Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br />Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 779-08, reports as follows: <br />Resolution No. 779-08, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 381 by Director of Finance William Takaba, via <br />Communication No. 1510, dated October 6, 2008, authorizes the Office of the Mayor to enter into an <br />agreement with the United States of America, for the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force <br />Program grant. <br />The U. S. Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration is providing a $20,000 Organized <br />Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) Program grant to the Hawaii County Police <br />Department. These funds will be used for overtime and travel costs incurred by deputized officers during <br />special investigations and prosecutions. <br />Lt. Richard Sherlock of the Hawaii Police Department stated that funds will be used for a specific <br />investigation to combat organized drug crime. <br />For informational purposes, Mr. Jacobson voted kanalua twice. <br />Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, County Departments must obtain the consent of the <br />Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to be taken <br />pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds or other assistance <br />in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers. <br />Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 779-08, and <br />recommends its adoption. <br />la <br /> AYES NOES A&E EX <br />FORD X <br />H[GA X <br />'HOFFMANN X <br />IKEDA X <br />JACOBSON X <br />NAEOLE X <br />PILAGO X <br />YAGONG X <br />YOSHIMOTO X <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />ON FINANCE <br />DOMINIC YAGONG, <br />FC REPORT <br />ADOPTED: <br />
