No. 1513/Res. No. 782-08 <br />Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 782-08, reports as follows: <br />Resolution No. 782-08, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 384 by Director of Finance William Takaba; via <br />Communication No. 1513, dated October 7, 2008, authorizes the Office of the Mayor to enter into an <br />agreement with the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation for a Traffic Investigation grant. <br />The State of Hawaii Department of Transportation Public Affairs -Safe Community Program is <br />providing a $18,570 Traffic Investigation grant to the Hawaii County Police Department. These funds <br />will be used to train officers in Crash Reconstruction Classes, to purchase a Crash Data Retrieval Module <br />for the Traffic Enforcement Unit, and to send officers to the Intoxilyzer Supervisor training session. In <br />the current fiscal yeaz's budget, this grant was anticipated and $12,000 was budgeted in the Traffic <br />Investigation expenditure account, however, the anticipated grant revenue was inadvertently placed in the <br />Traffic Training and Equipment account. <br />Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, County DeparUnents must obtain the consent of the <br />Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action-to be taken <br />pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds or other assistance <br />in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers. <br />Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 782-08, and <br />recommends its adoption. <br />la <br /> AYES NOES A&E EX <br />FORD X <br />HIGA X <br />HOFFMANN X <br />IKEDA X <br />JACOBSON X <br />NAEOLE X <br />PILAGO X <br />YAGONG X <br />YOSHIMOTO X <br />Respectfulty submitted, <br />ON FINANCE <br />FC REPORT NO. 53 <br />ADOPTED: O 7 1008 <br />
