Angel Piiago, via Communication No. ]424, <br />dated August 28, 2008, proposing an ordinance amending Chapter 14, General Welfare, relating <br />to the restriction of genetically engineered taro (kalo) and coffee. <br />The purpose of this bill is to protect the taro (kalo) and coffee industry from genetic engineering <br />and preserve agriculturally-based and cultural traditions associated with taro and coffee within <br />the County of Hawaii. <br />"fhe majority of testifiers implored the Members of this Committee to exercise home rule and <br />pass this bill for Hawaii County now.
