M. <br /> Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 327-98, repprts as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 327-98, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 295 by Finance Director Harry Takahashi, via <br /> Communication No. 985, dated September 8, 1998, authorizes the County of Hawaii to errter into an <br /> <br /> agreement with the United States of America for a Special Operations Grant. <br /> The Department of the Attorney General of the State of Hawaii through the federal government has <br /> <br /> authorized funding for a special operations grant with the County of Hawaii Police Department. <br /> Pursuant to Seetion 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, County departments must obtain the consent of the <br /> <br /> Council to enter into agreements with the Federal or State governments respecting action to be taken <br /> pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and re.~ceive any funds or other assistance <br /> in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers. <br /> The Mayor is hereby authorized and designated to silm the above-referenced agreement and any related <br /> <br /> documents on behalf of the Office of the Mayor and the County of Hawaii pursuant to the Hawaii County <br /> Charter. <br /> Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 327-98 and <br /> recommends its adoption. <br /> Ici <br /> lyes IYaes A&E F.x <br /> Respectfully submitted <br /> CHUNG g <br /> LEITaEAaTOUn X COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> RAY X <br /> SANTANGELO X l//~~' , <br /> SMITtt X AARON S.Y.
