No. 317-98 ' <br /> <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> <br /> TIME: 11:45 A.M. <br /> Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 317-98, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 317-98, transmitted by Parks and Recreation Director George Yoshida, dated August 31, <br /> 1998, via Communication No. 964, authorizes the grant of a sublease to Kai'Opua Canoe Club for the <br /> purpose of constructing and using canoe storage facilities on 5.7 acres of land located at Kailua Pazk. <br /> Pursuant to General Lease No. S-5271, dated July 6, 1994, the County of Hawaii is the lessee of 5.7 acres <br /> of land located at Ikailua Park. The Department of Pazks and Recreation desires to permit Kai'Opua and <br /> other Kona canoe clubs to construct and use canoe storage facilities on said property. <br /> Pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 19, Section 2-120(a)(2), Hawaii County Code, the Council may, by <br /> resolution approved by a majority of its members, direct the Finance Director to negotiate the disposition of <br /> real property by leasing it to non-profit organizations on such terms and condifions as deemed proper. <br /> According to Deputy Corporation Counsel Glenn Shiigi, a new sublease agreement will be drafted to <br /> address real properly tax responsibilities and construction time limits.
