REQUEST: <br /> <br /> 1) Requesting a resolution authorizing receipt and expenditure of state funds from the Hawaii State Coalition <br /> Against Domestic Violence to implement a coordinated community response to domestic violence and work <br /> on the goals outlined in the 2007-2012 statewide strategic plan. <br /> 2) Requesting a bill for an ordinance appropriating $40,000 for the Domestic Violence Strategic Plan (DVSP) <br /> project. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> <br /> The Prosecuting Attorney's Office has been approved to receive funds from the Hawaii State Coalition <br /> Against Domestic Violence to implement the "Navigating a Course for Peace, Domestic Violence Strategic <br /> Plan for 2007 - 2012" in Hawaii County. Funds will support activities of the Family Violence Interagency <br /> Committee (Hawai'i County's "domestic violence task force") to increase victim safety and battery <br /> accountability by: improving relationships and linkages between entities responding to domestic violence; <br /> educating community members about domestic violence; examining current practices and programs; and <br /> implementing new policies and programs.
