No. 284-98 <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> TIME: 10:30 A.M. <br /> Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred resolution No. 284-98, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 284-98, transmitted by Police Chief Wayne Carvalho, via Communication <br /> No. 888, dated June 9, 1998_ authorizes the acceptance of a donation from the Hawaii Police <br /> Athletic Association. <br /> The Hawaii Police Athletic Association has graciously donated one thousand dollars ($1,000) to <br /> be designated for use by the Hawaii County Police Department's Drug Abuse Resistance <br /> Education (D.A.R.E.) program. The D.A.R.E. program is seeking to acquire a wireless, hands- <br /> freemicrophone system, a portable overhead projector, and a video camcorder tripod for use <br /> during parent seminars, youth conferences, summer camps, and other events. <br /> Pursuant to Article Xll I, Section 13- 12, Hawaii County Charter, the council, on behalf of the <br /> county, may accept gifts of donations of personal property. <br /> Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 284-98 <br /> and recommends its adoption. Your Committee also recommends that a letter of appreciation be <br /> <br /> sent to Mr. Dennis Peterson, President, Hawaii Police Athletic Association, at P.O.
