No. 171-97 <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> TIME: 10:45 A.M. <br /> Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 171-97, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 171-97, transmitted by Finance Director Harry Takahashi, via Communication <br /> No. 537, dated October 9, 1997, abolishes Position No. 3850, Police Officer II, PO-07. <br /> The aforementioned position was created by Resolution No. 23-95 to specifically combat the <br /> problem of driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor violations. The Department of <br /> Transportation has since stopped all funding for this program; therefore the Police Department <br /> has requested that this position be abolished. <br /> Resolution No. 171-97 was originally heazd on November 4, 1997, and deferred pending <br /> comments from the administration regazding the feasibility of maintaining the position with <br /> County funds.
