<br />...... .- <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />tit ...... <br /> <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII <br /> <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 7 8 92- <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE RETIRED AND SENIOR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM <br />ON THEIR 25TH "SILVER" ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, (RSVP) provides a <br />variety of opportunities for retired and senior persons aged 55 and older to <br />participate more fully in the life of their community through significant volunteer <br />services; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, RSVP is part of the Corporation for National Service and locally <br />administered through the Department of Parks and Recreation's Elderly Activities <br />Division which began in 1972; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, as of March 1997, RSVP has 1,136 volunteers throughout <br />Hawaii County and is the largest program among the four counties; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, RSVP volunteers have provided more than 150,000 hours of <br />service in private, non-profit, and public community organizations many of whom <br />elected to continue in their professional fields while others pursue assignments that <br />enable them to fulfill their lifetime ambitions; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the RSVP is being honored for their 25 years of existence with <br />an annual recognition luncheon sponsored by the County on May 23, 1997 at the <br />Hilton Waikoloa Village. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF <br />HAWAII that it extends its congratulations and best wishes to the Retired and <br />Senior Volunteer Program on their 25th "Silver" Anniversary on May 23, 1997 at <br />the Hilton Waikoloa Village's Grand Ballroom. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council encourages the RSVP <br />volunteers to continue to offer their talents that so enrich our neighborhoods, the <br />RSVP clients and themselves. <br />
