COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 45 09 <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF PROFESSIONAL & <br />EXPERTISE SERVICES (VALUED UP TO $15,000) FROM THE AMERICAN <br />INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTS, AS PART OF THEIR 2009 SUSTAINABLE <br />DESIGN ASSESSMENT TEAM PROGRAM <br />WHEREAS, in December 2008, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) <br />selected Downtown Hilo as a recipient for the 2009 Sustainable Design Assessment <br />Team (SDAT) Program; and <br />WHEREAS, the application, Envision Downtown Hilo 2025 (EDH 2025): <br />Strategic Implementation for Long-term Sustainability, was submitted by the EDH 2025 <br />VisionKeepers and the County of Hawaii Planning Department; and <br />WHEREAS, as a selected recipient community, in 2009, the SDAT Program will <br />send a multidisciplinary team of professionals from across the country to Hilo for 3 days <br />to work with our community decision-makers and stakeholders to help us to develop a <br />sustainable future for Downtown Hilo; and <br />WHEREAS, as a grassroots project with minimum "expert" assistance, AIA's <br />support will provide an influx of wisdom, fresh energy, and techniques with the latest <br />best practices, policies and design tools for our local leadership to encourage creative <br />and innovative progressive change; and <br />WHEREAS, the AIA will provide up to $15,000 in financial support toward the <br />total expenses; and <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Department recommends the acceptance of these <br />services: and <br />
