REPORT OF THE <br />COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br />DATE: 1/6/2009 Re: Comm. No. 53/Res. No. 24-09 <br />PLACE: Council Chambers <br />TIME: 1:03p.m. <br />Council Chair and Members <br />Hawaii County Council <br />Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br />Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 24-09, reports as follows: <br />Resolution No. 24-09, transmitted by Assistant Corporation Counsel Gerald Takase, via Communication <br />No. 53, dated December 16, 2008, authorizes the acquisition of private properties by eminent domain, <br />being portions of tax map keys: (3)4-4-009:003 and 008. <br />The County of Hawaii will be doing road repairs and upgrades on Kalopa Sand Gulch Road that will <br />require the acquisition of these lands. <br />Chairman Yagong relinquished the chair to Vice Chair Ikeda to discuss this issue. Councilmember <br />Yagong outlined the history of the project and explained how rt had taken over 18 years to come to <br />fruition.
