<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />'4 <br /> <br />-,.. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF <br />HA W All that it supports the preservation of cultural rights and practices for subsistence hunters <br />and encourages the recognition of the feral pig (Sus Scrofa) as a component of these customs. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council urges the State Department of Land and <br />Natural Resources to work with hunters, community members, interested organizations, and <br />agencies to develop a game management plan which will protect our natural watersheds, native <br />forests and endangered species while still perpetuating traditional hunting practices. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council requests the Legislature of the State of <br />Hawaii and the Department of Land and Natural Resources take the appropriate steps to enact <br />legislation and implement appropriate rules that respect and preserve the cultural traditions of <br />subsistence hunters. <br /> <br />BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii, transmit copies of <br />this resolution to the Honorable Benjamin Cayetano, Governor of the State of Hawaii; the <br />Honorable Norman Mizuguchi, President of the Senate of the State of Hawaii; the Honorable <br />Joseph Souki, Speaker of the House of the State of Hawaii; the Honorable Senators Malama <br />Solomon, Andrew Levin and Wayne Metcalf; the Honorable Representatives Jerry Chang, <br />Robert Herkes, Eric Hamakawa, David Tamas, Dwight Takamine and Paul Whalen; the <br />Honorable United States Senators Daniel K. Inouye and Daniel K. Akaka; the Honorable United <br />States Representatives Patsy T.
