<br />-".~--~----- ----- -------------- <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII <br /> <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />139 97 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION DELETING POWER SHOVEL OPERATOR AND <br />CREATING TWO LABORER II POSITIONS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii County Charter <br />states that the Mayor has the power to "Create positions...for which <br />appropriations have been made by the council and abolish positions with the <br />consent of the council."; and <br />WHEREAS, Position No. 1111, Power Shovel Operator, BC-11, has been <br />vacant for many years and there are no power shovel equipment available; and <br />WHEREAS, there has been an increase of 53 miles in the Puna District; <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, resurfacing of highways are being done inhouse and not <br />contracted out; and <br />WHEREAS, the Puna District is in need of more Laborer II positions to <br />maintain, clean, and assist in repairing highways, building walls and other <br />concrete structures, digging ditches, and responding to emergencies in cleaning <br />debris from highways and drainageways; and <br />WHEREAS, it would be more beneficial to the Puna District to delete <br />Position No. 1111, Power Shovel Operator, BC-11, and to create two (2) Laborer <br />II, BC-03, positions; and <br />WHEREAS, funds are available in the Puna Road District Regular <br />Salaries and Wages Account. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII that Position No. 1111, Power Shovel Operator, BC-11, be <br />deleted, and two (2) Laborer II, BC-03, positions be created. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that funds are available in the Puna Road <br />District Regular Salaries and Wages account. <br />
