No. 177 <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> TIME: 11:05 A.M. <br /> Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 177, reports as follows: <br /> <br /> Resolution No. 177, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 161 by Finance Director Harry Takahashi, <br /> via Communication No. 555, dated October 20, 1997, authorizes the County of Hawaii to enter <br /> into an agreement with the United States of America for a public housing drug elimination <br /> program. <br /> The United States of America through the State Department of Human Services Hawaii Housing <br /> Authority, is desirous of providing funding to establish apolice-community partnership with the <br /> residents of Lanakila Housing and adopt a proactive approach to problem solving. The Hawaii <br /> County Police Department is ready and willing to assist in the development, implementation, <br /> education, and maintenance of crime prevention programs/strategies and work with youth to <br /> develop youth-oriented programs. <br /> Pursuant to Section 46-7 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes, the Federal government may enter into <br /> agreements with the Council of the County of Hawaii providing the expenditures or receipt of <br /> funds or for other assistance <br /> The Mayor is hereby authorized and designated to sign in the name of the County Project <br /> <br /> Number RSB 98-03, which will effectuate these purposes. <br /> Jointly, Bill No. 161 appropriates $70,900 to the Hawaii County Police Department for this drug <br /> elimination program. <br /> Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 177 and <br /> recommends its adoption. <br /> lkc <br /> Ayes Noes A&E EX <br /> Respectfully submitted <br /> CHUNG X <br /> LEITHEAD-TODD x COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> RAY X _ <br /> SANTANIGELO X ~ ~ l t <br /> SNIITH X <br /> TYLER X AARON S.Y.
