<br />COUNTY O"AWA <br /> <br />TAT~F HAWAII <br /> <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY OF HAWAII TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE <br />UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, GANG PREVENTION-KONA GRANT. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the United States of America through the State Department of Human <br />Services Office of Youth Services, is desirous of providing funding to monitor gang <br />activities within the County of Hawaii and assist the State in the coordination of <br />the critical elements of the youth gang response system which include effective <br />intelligence and law enforcement, sharing of information, training and community <br />awareness, community and school-based intervention and prevention programs, and <br />evaluation and research; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Police Department is ready and willing to proceed <br />with its obligations under the Gang Prevention Grant; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Sections 46-7 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes, the <br />Federal government may enter into agreements with the Council of the County of Hawaii <br />providing the expenditures or receipt of funds or for other assistance; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />the Honorable Stephen K. Yamashiro is hereby authorized and designated to sign in the <br />name of the County Project Number DHS-98-0YS-6097, which will effectuate these <br />purposes. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Clerk is hereby directed to forward <br />copies of this Resolution to said Mayor Yamashiro, the Chief of Police, and any other <br />interested governmental agencies. <br /> <br />Dated: <br /> <br />Hilo, Hawaii, this 15th day of October ,1997. <br /> <br />~BY: <br /> <br /> <br />COUNCIL MEMBER, <br /> <br />COUNTY COUNCIL <br />County of Hawaii <br />.
