-- RESOLUTION RESOLUTION DELETING POLICE OFFICER II POSITION WHEREAS, the Department of Transportation had approved a grant under the Highway Safety Program to fund the salaries of Police Officers to combat the problem of Driving Under the Influence of intoxicating liquor violations; and WHEREAS, Resolution No. 23-95 created two (2) Police Officer II positions for as long as the Department of Transportation provided funding; and WHEREAS, the curtailment of grant funding from the Department of Transportation necessitated the abolishment of Position No. 3851, Police Officer II, which was accomplished in Resolution No. 204-95; and WHEREAS, with the end of the funding of the grant, Position No. 3850, Police Officer II, PO-a?, also needs to be abolished; and WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii County Charter states that the Mayor has the power to "Create positions...for which appropriations have been made by the council and abolish positions with the consent of the council." NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Position No. 3850, Police Officer II, PO-a?, be abolished. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the Departments of Police, Finance and Civil Service. ,1998.
