No. 166 <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> TIIvfE: 10:35 A.M. <br /> Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 166, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 166, transmitted by Executive on Aging William Takaba, via Communication <br /> No. 520, dated September 19, 1997, authorizes the County of Hawaii to enter into agreement EOA Ref. <br /> No. HA-IIIA-98-3(N) with the Executive Office on Aging and State of Hawaii, for Older American Act <br /> Funds for Education and Training. <br /> The Commissioner of the Administration on Aging, Office of the United States Secretary of the Department <br /> of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is authorized under Title III-A of the Older Americans Act of 1965, <br /> as amended, 35 U.S.C.§3028(a)(1), to make grants for the administration of its State Plan on Aging. <br /> The DHHS has approved the Executive Office on Aging's State Plan on Aging and made funds available for <br /> its implementation. Therefore, pursuant to Act 218, S.L.H. 1995, as amended, by Act 287, S.L.H. 1996, the <br /> Eighteenth Legislature of the State of Hawaii has appropriated funds in the amount of $6000. <br /> Pursuant to Section 46-8 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes, as amended, the Governor of the State of Hawaii <br /> may enter into agreements with the Council of the County of Hawaii providing for the co-sponsorship and <br /> joint development and maintenance of programs and projects which have been authorized by the Legislature. <br /> The Council Chair is hereby authorized and designated to sign in the name of the Council of the County of <br /> Hawaii the Agreement for Older American Act Funds for Education and Training, EOA Ref.
