No. 160 <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> TIME: 10:35 A.M. <br /> Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 160, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 160, transmitted jointly with Resolution No. 159 by Finance Director Harry <br /> Takahashi, via Communication No. 496, dated September 15, 1997, authorizes the Mayor to <br /> enter into an agreement with the United States of America though the State Department of <br /> Human Services (DHS) Office of Youth Services for the purpose of gang prevention in East <br /> Hawaii. <br /> The United States through the DHS Office of Youth Services is desirous of providing funding in <br /> the amount of $114,000 to monitor gang activities within the County of Hawaii and assist the <br /> State in the coordination of a youth gang response system. <br /> The Hawaii County Police Department is ready and willing to proceed with its obligations under <br /> the Gang Prevention Grant-East Hawaii. <br /> <br /> Pursuant to Section 46-7 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes, the Council of the County of Hawaii <br /> may enter into agreements with the Federal Government or any other public body providing the <br /> expenditure or receipt of funds or for other assistance. <br /> <br /> The Mayor is hereby authorized and designated to sign in the name of the County Project <br /> <br /> Number DHS-98-OYS-6098, which will effectuate these purposes. <br /> <br /> Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 160 and <br /> <br /> recommends its adoption. <br /> <br /> ]kc <br /> Ayes Nues A&E EX <br /> Respectfully submitted <br /> CHUIVG X <br /> LEITHEAD-TODD x COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> RAY X <br /> SANTANGELO X C ~"t <br /> SMITH X <br /> TYLER X AARON S.
