COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 200 97 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY OF HAWAII TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAII, DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND TOURISM, FOR A GRANT FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES RELATED TO EVALUATING ENERGY EFFICIENCY MEASURES PROPOSED FOR FACILITIES OF THE WASTEWATER DIVISION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS. WHEREAS, the United States of America, through the State Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism, is desirous of promoting measures for improved efficiency of energy utilization in electric motor driven systems through its national Motor Challenge program; and WHEREAS, the Hawaii State Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism is prepared to enter into an agreement with the County of Hawaii, Department of Public Works, to provide funds from the Motor Challenge program to assist in efforts to improve the efficiency of motor-driven systems at facilities of the Wastewater Division; and WHEREAS, the Wastewater Division is presently taking measures to solicit proposals for improving the energy efficiency of its motor-driven systems and will require expert assistance in evaluating the technical and economic value of system changes proposed; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 46-8 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes, the Council of the County of Hawaii may enter into agreements with the federal government or any other public body providing the expenditure or receipt of funds or for other assistance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the Honorable Stephen K. Yamashiro is hereby authorized to ~xecute on behalf of the County of Hawaii, the County Letter of Agreement Number LOA 97-01, which will effectuate these purposes.
