No. 137 <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> TIME: 10:55 A.M. <br /> Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 137, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 137, transmitted by Police Chief Wayne G. Carvalho, via Communication <br /> No. 428, dated August 4, 1997, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from the Hawaii Police <br /> Athletic Federation. <br /> The Hawaii Police Athletic Federation has graciously donated one thousand dollars ($1,000) to <br /> be designated for use by the Hawaii County Police Department's Drug Abuse Resistance <br /> Education (DARE) program. DARE is seeking to acquire a portable public address system for <br /> use during parent seminars, youth conferences, summer camps and other extra-curricular events. <br /> Currently, it is necessary for the Police Department to rent sound systems to facilitate events. <br /> <br /> Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, the council, on behalf of <br /> <br /> the county, may accept gifrs of donations or personal property. <br /> <br /> Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. ] 37 and <br /> <br /> recommends its adoption. Your Committee also recommends that a letter of appreciation be sent <br /> <br /> to Mr. Gregory Hunt, President, Hawaii Police Athletic Association at P.O.
