<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />e--- - . <br /> <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII <br /> <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />2.20..98 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION CREATING A CLERK POSITION FOR THE MASS <br />TRANSIT AGENCY. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The Mass Transit Agency has expanded its duties to include <br /> <br />administering the Transportation Commission and the Shared Ride Taxi <br /> <br />Program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Mass Transit Agency provides services for more than <br /> <br />o <br />2,400 individuals, accounting for over 300,000 passenger trips; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Agency also services more than 50 walk-in clients as well <br /> <br />as answers over 100 telephone calls daily; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Agency has a total of 5 employees, including the Transit <br /> <br />Administrator, the Transit Assistant, a Clerk-Typist and 2 mechanics; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, by creating a Clerk, SR-8 position to aid in compiling <br /> <br />statistics, answering telephone calls, selling bus tickets and coupons, and <br /> <br />assisting the public, the Transit Assistant would be able to devote more time to <br /> <br />operational activities; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii County Charter states <br /> <br />that the Mayor has the power to "Create positions...for which appropriations <br /> <br />have been made by the counciL."; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there are funds in the Mass Transit Rental/Lease account. <br />
