<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Iii _.. <br /> <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII <br /> <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 230 98 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING MULTI-YEAR FUNDING FOR THE STATEWIDE <br />WASTEWATER TREATMENT WORKS OPERATOR TRAINING FACILITY <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAW Ail. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the state and counties have constructed a statewide wastewater treatment <br /> <br />works operator training facility; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 44, Act 216, 1987 Hawaii Session Laws, the Legislature <br /> <br />of the State of Hawaii appropriated funds to the Department of Health to administer statewide <br /> <br />wastewater treatment operator training facility only on the condition that the counties also <br /> <br />provide a share of nonstate funds for the operating costs of the facility; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 109(b) of Public Law 95-217, the U.S. Environmental <br /> <br />Protection Agency has awarded a grant of$500,000 to the Department of Health to establish a <br /> <br />facility to train and update wastewater treatment works operation and maintenance personnel on <br /> <br />a statewide basis; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Health desires to obtain the required funding and <br /> <br />participation to operate and maintain the statewide wastewater treatment operator training <br /> <br />facility and the County of Hawaii is ready, willing, and able to provide such funding and <br /> <br />participation; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii's share of the maintenance and operation charges <br /> <br />would be fourteen percent (14%); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the projected total operating budget for the facility in the 1998-1999 fiscal <br /> <br />year will not exceed $142,500, and annual increases of the operating budget shall not exceed ten <br /> <br />percent (10%); and <br />
