No. 314 <br /> PLACE: Councilroom <br /> TIME: 11:30 A.M. <br /> Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 96, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 96, transmitted by Finance Director Harry Takahashi, via Communication <br /> No. 314, dated May 6, 1997, authorizes the County of Hawaii to enter into an agreement with the <br /> United States of America for a Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE)/Department of <br /> Education Grant. <br /> The United States of America through the State Department of Education, is desirous of <br /> providing funding for expenses to train DARE officers, provide a DARE Summer Leadership <br /> camp for students and provide supplies for the DARE Parent Program. The Hawaii County <br /> Police Department is ready and willing to proceed with its obligations under the DARE/DOE <br /> Grant. <br /> Pursuant to Section 46-7 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes, the Federal govermnent may enter into <br /> agreements with the Council of the County of Hawaii providing the expenditures or receipt of <br /> funds or for other assistance.
