COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 75 09 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) <br />WHEREAS, the Hamakua Health Center, Ina (HHC), as a Federally Qualified Health <br />Center, is required to provide oral health services which is integrated with primary medical care <br />and behavioral health services under the Public Health Service Act Section 300e as part of a <br />comprehensive approach to reducing disparities for the low-income and un-insured regardless of <br />health status, race, ethnicity or ability to pay; and <br />WHEREAS, the total cost of the van plus dental equipment is $359,000.00; and <br />WHEREAS, the HHC was awarded $310,000.00 by the Hawaii County Office of <br />Housing and Community Development via a Community Development Block Grant, to purchase <br />a 38' Winnebago chassis which has been converted into a three operatory mobile dental clinic; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, this van arrived in January 2009 and began delivering dental services to the <br />underserved and uninsured patients of North Hawaii, from Laupahoehoe to Kapa`au; and <br />WHEREAS, HHC, a community owned and governed 501(c)(3) corporation whose <br />mission is to provide accessible, quality health care and educational services which emphasize <br />individual and commurity wellness regardless of an individual's ability to pay, has requested <br />funds from District 9 in order to help fund the purchase of the dental van, in order to offer mobile <br />services to the community; and <br />WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to <br />the Office of Housing & Community Development to help fund the purchase X-ray equipment <br />for the mobile dental van; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br />following amount is hereby transferredlappropriated as set forth below: <br />FUND: General <br />AMOUNT OF <br />APPROPRIATION: $5,000 <br />
