<br /> <br /> <br /> SV Os N, <br /> 4~ L <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 86 09 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND <br /> FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) <br /> <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development is a non-profit 501(c)(3) <br /> corporation and is the fiscal sponsor for the Rat Lungworm Education Project; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, rat lungworm is a tropical disease found in warm, moist climes that is caused by, <br /> a parasitic worm carried by rats; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, people in Hawaii have come down with this rare parasitic disease; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, residents attended community meetings to talk about action that can be taken to <br /> better prevent and treat the disease; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the community sees the importance of reaching as many people as possible; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, preventing disease is one of the most important ways to cut health care cost and <br /> ensure that citizens live healthier lives; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the community sees the importance of reaching as many people as possible; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the internet is the most proven and effective way to get information out to the <br /> public at large to educate others about rat lung disease and its prevention; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the public health community agrees that prevention is critical to successfully <br /> addressing this health crisis; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, investing in prevention education, lives and money can be saved; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, teaching and practicing prevention will decrease the possibility of exposure to rat <br /> lung worm; and <br />
